Mark W. LaVare, age 66, of Harpursville passed on Sat. February 21, 2026 at home. He joins his parents Kenneth D. and Elizabeth S. LaVare Sr. who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his siblings, Jeffrey (Karen) LaVare, Kenneth LaVare Jr.,Timothy (Shirley) LaVare, Elizabeth LaVare, Victoria O’Daniels & Jodie LaVare.

He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and many nieces and nephews including his special great niece, Madison, who affectionately called him The Buck as he in turn called her the Doe.

Mark was the original of the family. He was the only leftie and had our dad’s genes with his jet black hair.

Mark was employed for many years as an over the road truck driver for companies including Don Snow’s Trucking and Owner Operator Moe Cower. He missed being a trucker when he became ill. It was a profession that suited him and that he really loved. He felt free when he was on the road.

Mark enjoyed hunting and fishing and anything outdoors. He loved motorcycles and the New Orleans Saints. Mark was truly someone who would do anything for his family or friends. He was a quiet man but wore his heart on his sleeve. Mark will be missed dearly by his family and those who knew him. He was a great son, brother, and friend.

The family would like to thank Dr. McDonald and Guthrie Sayre staff for taking care of him over the years.

Memorial Services will be held at the Osterhoudt-Madden Funeral Home 69-71 Maple Street Harpursville on Mon. at 4 p.m.  The family will receive friends at the Osterhoudt-Madden Funeral Home on Mon. from 3 to 4 p.m. prior to service.

In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the St. Christopher Trucker Relief Fund in his name or just thank a trucker that you know or meet for the hard work they do every day or American Cancer Society.
